Making your babies first pasta recipe should be both easy and simple. It took me less than ten minutes to whip up a pasta that tastes better than the usual! It was totally meat free and full of good vegetables I had on hand.
The reason I wanted to make a meat free baby bolognese recipe is because I still haven’t introduced a whole lot of meat and poultry into Elle’s diet. They do say ‘food before one is just for fun’ meaning that they aren’t relying on food to derive nutrients but still rely on milk.
This is my version for a babies first pasta! This meal actually tasted so delicious that I ate one myself and will definitely increase sauce quantities next time to include enough for myself and my partners meals. In a bid to ensure we have two meat/poultry free dinners a week this is the perfect recipe for that. Just grab an extra punnet of tomatoes to do this!
FIRST PASTA
TO MAKE IT
THE SAUCE
Cherry tomatoes or similar (1 cup – puree fresh with 1/2 cup water), onion (1 whole – diced), garlic (1 cube – diced), carrot (2 – sliced thin), zucchini (1 – sliced thin), spinach (handful – diced), coconut oil (1 tbsp), oregano (1 tsp).
Optional: Add any other vegetables you need to use – mushrooms, beans etc.
Add an extra punnet of tomatoes (1 cup) to increase sauce quantity for serving the whole family.
Using a pan on the stove fry the garlic and onion with coconut oil. Once soft add remaining ingredients and reduce heat to simmer for 10-20 minutes until carrot is soft. Turn off and let cool and blend with a hand blender to puree.
THE PASTA
Bellamy’s organic brown rice pasta stars ( 1/2 cup ) water 1 1/2 cup)
Follow heating instructions as per the packet. This made around 3 meals for Elle or cook pasta for the family and use remaining sauce for the family dinner.
You are done! Enjoy! x
